CAT56 cable contains pairs of copper wire. It supports Speedy Ethernet speeds (up to 1000 Mbps). As with all other types of twisted pair EIA/TIA cabling, CAT6 cable runs are limited to a maximum recommended run length of 100m (328 feet).
Also, CAT6 is an Ethernet network cable standard defined by the Electronic Industries Association & Telecommunications Industry Association (often known as EIA/TIA). CAT6 is the fifth generation of twisted pair Ethernet & is the most popular of all twisted pair cables in use today. Twisted pair cable like CAT6 comes in 2 main varieties, solid and stranded. Solid CAT6 cable supports longer length runs and works best in fixed wiring configurations like office buildings, schools and industrial locations. Stranded CAT6 cable, on the other hand, is more pliable and better suited for shorter-distance, movable cabling such as on-the-spot patch cabling. This is the main cable we install in Office Buildings all over the Bay Area from San Francisco to Santa Cruz. In a normal application this type of Premise Cabling is done for data rates 100m. For faster speeds we recommend the clients installs CAT6 cabling, this type of cable is rated for Gigabit applications.
